In fact, about 29% of us entrepreneurs have ADHD! While research shows that ADHD brains often come with some pretty awesome entrepreneurial strengths - we’re talking high creativity, innovation, hyper-focus, and more ease around taking risks - research also shows that too many of us struggle to stay in business and wind up earning less than we would in salaried employment.

WHY IS THAT?

Because ADHD brains also tend to struggle with organization, prioritization and long-term planning, initiating and staying on tasks, procrastination, time management, and having zero motivation to do all that less fun stuff required to run a business. And the list goes on and on. 

THE GOOD NEWS IS...

ADHD DOES NOT NEED TO HINDER YOUR SUCCESS

Many of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs have ADHD brains. And I’m willing to bet most would claim it’s a major factor in their success.

That said, no two people or brains are alike. What works for one person may not work for another.

The key is to understand and learn how to work with your unique ADHD brain to build on your strengths, minimize your challenges, and create a customized, evidence-based set of tools, strategies, and solutions that work specifically for YOU.

But wait... there's more to it than that.

THE ADHD SYMPTOM THAT IMPACTS EVERYTHING!

EMOTIONAL DYSREGULATION is a core facet of ADHD.  It’s the decreased ability to effectively manage and regulate our emotional states and behavioral responses. 

 

Although very common, it's often overlooked.  If not addressed and managed properly, it can render all our other tools, strategies, and systems ineffective and keep us limping along indefinitely.  

 

It can completely shut down our already compromised executive functions and is a huge cause of procrastination and other problematic behaviors that rob us of our success, focus, and well-being. 

 

 THE MOST CRUCIAL SKILL when it comes to succeeding and thriving with ADHD is the ability to manage and regulate our emotional states.   

 

But there’s more…

THE 2-TON ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM...

WHAT'S NOT BEING TALKED ABOUT OR ADDRESSED ENOUGH...

(and what many don’t even realize - including those of us with ADHD)

 

It's often not so much the different and problematic ways in which our ADHD brains function that keep us stuck and unable to succeed and thrive - as frustrating and challenging as these issues can be.

It's the damage that's been done to our self-image and psyche as a result of living with ADHD throughout the years - especially when it’s gone undiagnosed for a very long time. And women on average tend to be diagnosed much later in life.

THE PAINFUL TRUTH

Years of shame, self-loathing, trauma, regrets, missed opportunities… it takes a hefty toll.  Women in particular tend to turn all of that pain and frustration inward.  

Now, in addition to our ADHD brain and symptoms, we have a sh** load of deep-rooted limiting beliefs, maladaptive habits and mindsets, coping mechanisms, protection mechanisms, and false narratives subconsciously running the show and reinforcing a broken, not-enough ADHD “identity”.

Most of us have no clue just how much all of this damage is currently impacting our ability to move forward and thrive.

HERE'S THE REALLY GOOD NEWS...

Although we may be stuck with our ADHD brain - and is that really such a bad thing? - these other extremely problematic LEARNED mindsets, behaviors, and responses can be UNLEARNED! 


It is possible to heal our damaged relationship with ourself - and rebuild a healthier one that nurtures, supports, and encourages us to flourish and grow. 


It is possible to cultivate new narratives, new mindsets, new habits, and new conditioned responses, rooted in meaningful self-acceptence, compassion, and love.


AND, the latest discoveries in neuroplasticity mean that it's even possible for us to create new neural pathways and strengthen our pre-frontal cortex and executive function!

When you look up the word 'discipline,' you're likely to find lots of words like rules, obey, control, fix, force - even punish.  In fact, Miram-Webster defines discipline as "to punish or penalize for the sake of obedience or perfecting moral character."  Yikes!  That approach doesn't work for most people.  It especially doesn't work for those of us with ADHD!  We've had a lifetime of beating ourselves up in order to perform. And we've paid a hefty price for it.

The Loving Discipline Method rejects that problematic, abusive definition and offers a more compassionate, sustainable, inside-out approach to showing up for ourselves that's built upon the original, Latin root meaning of the word: to learn
